In my last post, I told some of the side effects of the Chemo. Well, I should also tell about the Doctor's caution to Bryan.
Everyone know's that we decided that the only way we could do this big C word was through laughter and humor and Bryan has done very well with it. So last week after Dr. Rich told about all the side effects, he said very serious. There is one more thing that I should tell you. The nurses take everything very seriously in the Chemo room. So don't tease the nurses about having some kind of reaction to the medicine. Most people do ok, but there have been a couple of patience that have had some pretty bad reactions to the Chemo. So please don't scare the nurses by putting your hands to your neck and pretending that something strange is going on. Dr. Rich said he didn't normally have to tell patience this, but due to our funny side, he wanted Bryan to be careful. Dr. Rich said just so you know, if you do something like this and make the nurses nervous, they will stop the chemo and give you medicine to to counter the reaction. Then you will have to wait an hour to make sure everything is ok and then start the chemo again. That will take an extra 2 hours in your day.
So as we sat in the chemo room, Bryan so wanted to be the funny man, but he didn't. That is until the end. As we were leaving he tried on the different hats that had been made for the patients, looking in the mirror and showing others how he looked. He headed back to the nurses to show. My thought was Bryan don't do it, but he did. The nurse went along with it, but were not that amused. I wanted to bust up laughing, so I headed out of the room. As I left, there was a lady sitting in a chair right by the door. She was there when we got there and 3 hours later, she was still there. I softly said I'm sorry, and she smiled and said that's ok, there needs to be some humor in this room somewhere.
Thanks Bryan! There are enough tears shed, we need to laugh.
