1 of 12 treatments down. It takes a lot of time to be sick. Bryan spent nearly 8 hours this week in doctor's offices. But he ended the week better than he could have. The 3 hours in the chemo chair weren't to bad. He worked on emails and caught up some computer things. Then we took his new best friend home with him. His chemo pump. It wasn't to noticeable to most. Bryan had quit tucking his shirt into his pants. He doesn't like it that way, but he has so many issues around his middle area right now that it is just easier to not tuck the shirt in, so most people didn't really notice the pack on his hip that pumped all that stuff into his body.
He has started to notice that food doesn't taste as good as it use to. It has kind of a metal taste. The nausea has been present some. He reached into the fridge to get out a string cheese today and notices how cold the fridge area is. He is tired, but that is also still a carry over from the surgery.
He does wonder if the pain from the rectal removal will ever go away. Dr. Cook told him the pain would be there until the scar tissue had filled in enough to make the body feel whole. That could take along time. Maybe a year or more.
We still feel blessed that he is doing as well has he is. Some days I watch him get out of bed or sit down on a chair and think he has aged 20 years. But he can still get out of bed and sit on a chair. For that, I am grateful.
